No, really, don't let the door hit you on the way out
Just when you thought you were through with him, President Bush has decided to mess with us one last time before he leaves office. He's asked the networks to give him 15 minutes of prime time to give a farewell address to the nation. This will have the effect of either a) delaying the start of the shows by 15 minutes thus completely hosing your Tivo recordings or b) pushing the shows to next week causing repeats and hosing your Tivo recordings. This Thursday was supposed to be the return of Smallville and CSI. The episode of CSI is also the second half of a two parter. So check those to-do lists on Thursday, kids. Thanks, Dubya. CBS has issued a press release saying their primetime schedule will follow the presidential address. I have no idea what that means for the west coast. Fox is moving the premier of Bones to next week.
There's a documentary on PBS starting this week called Make 'Em Laugh. It's about American comedy. Sounds like it could be interesting. It's also available on DVD.
The DVD of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog came out a few weeks ago. I finally got my copy a yesterday. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I'm really looking forward to the commentary track, Commentary: The Musical. Yes, they recorded an entire singing commentary track. Genius.
The Golden Globe awards were on Sunday night.
24 started on Sunday night. I'm glad a year off didn't give the writers any wacky ideas, like it has to make sense or not be competely preposterous. It's still storytelling as if by five year old.
Season three of Mad Men should debut this summer. The creator/writer hasn't been officially signed yet, but AMC is saying it'll happen.
The Obama transition team has asked Congress to push back the digital TV switchover. If you're still watching TV with rabbit ears you care. Otherwise, you don't.
Comedy Central is premiering Important Things with Demetri Martin on February 11. It's a series. I can't find any info about how many episodes or how often it will air.
I am having the darnedest time trying to figure out which channel's inauguration coverage to record. I've set a recording for NBC, but I think I might want to watch MSNBC. Really I just want to watch it live but the inauguration happens a 9:00 am out here, and I'm usually still sitting in traffic at that point. I'm torn.
That reminds me, there are a handful of shows kicking off (or re-kicking) this week. CSI:NY, CSI, Smallville, BSG, Eleventh Hour and Flight of the Conchords all start this week.
